How to restore SharePoint Site collection root site if deleted


Before restoring the deleted root site, one must know the SiteId. This operation can be done in below two steps.

Step1 : First, get the SiteId value for deleted root site with the help of below Management Shell command. You many need to open the Microsoft Management Shell Tool in order to execute below commands.

P:>Get-SPDeletedSite

This will provide the information like

WebApplicationId   : *****************************
DatabaseId         : *****************************
SiteSubscriptionId : 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
SiteId             : <SITE-ID>
Path               : /sites/SITE_NAME
DeletionTime       : <DATE-TIME>


Step2 : You need to copy the value of SiteID attribute from above output and run below

P:>Get-SPDeletedSite | where {$_.SiteId -eq ‘<SITE-ID>’} | Restore-SPDeletedSite

That is it! Now try to open the site
